Being new in any form of racing discipline is a very difficult proposition for anyone. The learning curve is steep and the climb is hard and rigorous. Such is the case with Speedtech Asia with support from General Motors Automobiles Philippines, the "newbie" team in the Asian Formula 3 Series.

Round 1

Sitting on pole was Pepon Marave from Shell Casino Filipino Team Tom's. Setting a blistering lap time yesterday, the FILA sponsored driver lead the field around the Subic International Raceway.

Qualifying is a battle between racers and the track, where the goal is to post the quickest lap time possible. Its a game of skill, in driving, car setup and more importantly, the mind. Marked as the 2003 season's first qualifying session, May 10th proved to be an eye opener. An extremely hot day, the track temperatures were up and the surface was slick!

The day had a full schedule of practice sessions. Seven, to be exact! The AF3 drivers and teams had their hands full as the track, weather and cars, were all changing as the day went on.
