Indonesian Formula BMW star, Zahir Ali, has confirmed he will be competing the 2007-8 Asian Formula Three Series. Ali has won four F.BMW Asia races so far this year and he will undoubtedly be competitive in AF3. Interest from drivers World Wide is currently very high and announcements from several competitive drivers are expected soon.

Henri Karjalainen, who was second in the AF3 Pacific Series, was interviewed live on the Finnish Urheilukanava TV station to recount his exploits in the Asian Series this year. “My sponsors were delighted with the coverage and it demonstrates that AF3 really can help a driver’s career” reported Karjalainen.

The Ping Tzuo Racing Spirit(Hong Kong) Team will join the 2007-8 Asian Formula Three Series with a minimum of two cars. PTRS is based at the Zhuhai Circuit in China and is one of several new teams expected to join the series.

Dillon Battistini was crowned AF3 Pacific Champion after a controversial final race at the Zhuhai Circuit in China. Battistini finished fourth after a clash with title rival Karjalainen whilst Moreno Soeprapto won the race with Karjalainen second and Robin Tato third. Paul Ip finished second in the Promotions Class which was enough to be crowned Promotions Class Champion.

Dillon Battistini drove another faultless race to beat Henri Karjalainen by less than half a second after another close fought race. Moreno Soeprapto was again third. Battistini now has a 14 point lead going into the final race of the series later today and barring any disasters should be crowned champion.
