Filipino Tyson Sy will race the Minardi Team Asia Dallara 398 car in the Philippine Formula Three Championship. It is expected Chinese driver, Mars Hsieh, will take over the car for the Asian Formula Three Rounds in China.

The car is managed by Castrol Team Goddard and will be run along side Mark Goddard’s car. Sy shone for the team at the recent Formula BMW Asia Bahrain GP support race and will surely be a contender for overall honors in the PF3 Championship. Tyson’s car will carry support from San Miguel Corporation and Demvels.

Mark Goddard stated that he was extremely happy to have Tyson as part of the F3 team particularly as it ties in well with Minardi Team Asia’s aim of taking drivers from karting to Formula BMW to Formula Three and on to Formula One. “This was a last minute decision and we had thought of getting both of our Formula BMW drivers to race for us in PF3 but unfortunately for us Christian Jones had already snapped up Dado Pena!” said Goddard. “One thing for certain is that Minardi F1 boss, Paul Stoddard, will be watching both of our “junior” drivers progress.”
