The cars finally started running mid afternoon on an extremely slippery and treacherous circuit. Mark Goddard and Christian Jones topped the times with a 1m 13.2 lap. “Its early days and I am just feeling my round” said Christian. “The times today mean nothing as the track is very green and no one is really trying” quipped Goddard.
Third was Tyson Sy with a 1m 14.3 lap. Tyson is still feeling out the track on his first visit in an F3 car. John O’Hara was driving Pepon Marave’s car and posted a 1m15.2. “The car is not handling so well, it feels like it on top of the track rather than really gripping” reported O’Hara. “Tomorrow I will be in my own car so hopefully I will be quicker.
Enzo Pastor was next up on a 1m15.5 complaining of totally wrong gear ratios. “Tomorrow he will have the right ratios so he will be quicker” said Elson Carpio the manager of TOM’S Asia. Brother Don was unhappy with the handling and set a 1m16.2 whilst Marave was able to set a 1m16.3 in a five lap session at the end of the day. “It over steers then under steers” lamented Pepon, “hopefully we can get to the bottom of the problem tomorrow”.
Several drivers decided not to run today and we can expect to see the likes of Richard Joson, Dado Pena, JoJo Silverio and Roland Hermoso practice tomorrow.
Remember if you live in the Philippines you can watch the race live on NBN 4 this Sunday, May 30th at 10.30am and 2.30pm.
