The circuit, which opened in 1996, was designed and built to Formula One standards. It features a 12,000 Pit Straight Covered Grandstand and 6,000 seat covered Grandstand at Turn 7 plus an 8000 seat open grandstand and seating for up to 60,000 general admission spectators.
The circuit also has a press center which caters for 200 journalists, VIP and corporate rooms, a Club House and Restaurant which can seat 500 guests, a fully equipped medical center with a helipad and the Control Tower is fitted with state of the art CCTV technology.
Zhuhai is a one hour ferry ride from Hong Kong and is adjacent to Macau. The city itself is a tourist destination and numerous hotels are available. Zhuhai is known for its shopping and restaurants. The circuit itself is a 25 minute taxi ride from the centre of the city. The 36 hole Lakewood Golf Course is situated next to the circuit.
