Jonathan Legris joins TRS for Batangas event – Oct 28 05

Formula BMW UK Rookie race winner, Jonathan Legris, has signed with the Tuason Racing School Team to drive their Dallara 398 TOM’S car in the Promotions Class for the final AF3 event at the Batangas Race Circuit in the Philippines on November 6th.

Legris will follow in the footsteps of Oliver Turvey, who like Legris had raced in the Formula BMW UK Championship and finished last year by competing at BRC in the Promotions Class, impressing by taking a class win. Eighteen year old Legris has taken several ‘Rookie’ class wins in the extremely competitive British F.BMW Championship and he is also expected to be competitive at BRC.

He has followed the usual steps to the top, starting in Cadets at the tender age of 6 going on to win in Cadets, JICA and ICA. What was not usual was his fight with Lymphoma cancer making his results all the more remarkable. He was forced to sit out the 2004 F.BMW Asia season before returning as an official BMW Scholarship driver in 2005.

Legris will test at the Batangas Circuit next Monday and Tuesday. Team Proprietor, JP Tuason, who was to have driven at BRC has stepped aside to make way for the young British driver.
