Pole sitter Dado Pena was punted into spin at the first turn of the race by a fast starting Roland Hermoso. Bagoes Hermanto was also involved bringing out the safety car whilst the wreckage was cleared. “My mistake” admitted a contrite Hermoso. At the re-start Winslow took the lead from Jackson and these two pulled away from a battling Moreno and Battistini. Jackson hounded Winslow for eight laps before outbraking the Englishman into turn four. Winslow fought back going all the way around the outside of Jackson in the flat out turn six before Jackson took the place for good at turn seven. The interest now was with the battle for third between Dillon and Moreno, the former finally finding a way past with a couple of laps to go. Moreno however had other ideas and fought back retaking the place on the last lap. Battistini almost returned the favour on the final turn, finishing a mere .043 seconds behind Moreno. Tyson Sy finished fifth whilst Pepon Marave spun out into the final turn gravel, joined a few laps later by Gaby Dela Merced who missed Marave’s beached car by millimeters.
Satrio won the Promotions Class after a race long battle with LouMeng, the pair finishing just over a second apart.
Sunday will see rounds eight and nine of the series and on the present form Ali Jackson is going to be a hard man to beat. The on-form Winslow looks the man most likely to whilst Dado Pena should be one to watch having to start at the back of the field.
