After winning his first F3 race at Zhuhai four weeks earlier, Jackson returned to the Hong Kong venue and continued where he had left off. His first of three wins on a dream weekend for the Irish driver came from pole position in a race postponed from the previous event. Showing impressive car control in treacherous wet conditions
Jackson recovered from a slow getaway to race back to the front from third and soon opened a race winning gap. He eventually took the flag for his second consecutive series win to move right into contention in the points standings.
Jackson qualified third for round seven of the series and once again showed his mettle on a wet track as he took the lead at mid distance and cruised home to complete a hat trick of wins. Moreno Soeprapto joined his Aran Racing team mate on the rostrum
after finishing third, scoring his first podium finish in the senior class of Asian F3.
Jackson dropped to third from pole position at the start of round eight but eventually raced back into second position. Soeprapto led early on and eventually secured a second successive podium finish in third place.
The final round of a hectic weekend was another benefit for Aran Racing as Jackson controlled affairs from the front, once again on a wet track. The17-year-old rookie ended the weekend leading the championship in just his first season of car racing.
Capping a highly successful weekend for Aran Racing, Soeprapto scored his third successive third place finish to move into the top five in the drivers championship.
Afterwards Jackson described his delight at winning his first car race so early in his career. "That was just great," said the Antrim based racer. "The conditions were very difficult but I don't mind the wet and I knew after yesterday that I had the pace and the car to win."
Joint team owner John O'Hara was very impressed with both his drivers after a fantastic weekend for the young team. "Ali was superb in the wet and made the most of his chances," said O'Hara. "He's a fine racer and is looking good for a championship assault in his first season. "Moreno did a great job, too, and is really making progress. It was a proud moment to see them both on the podium for the first time. I have to say that all the mechanics and engineers did a terrific job all weekend in what was a very enjoyable and rewarding event for all. "
The Asian F3 teams now head to Sentul in Indonesia for the next event on September 20-25th.
