An AF3 spokesman reported “This is only in the discussion stage right now but it is a serious option for us. Apart from Asian drivers, we also need drivers from all over the World to join us and running in the winter months should open the driver market up for us. Another consideration is that the coolest and driest weather is usually between November and March in this part of the World. We anticipate holding events in Zhuhai China, Sentul Indonesia and Batangas in the Philippines. We are also looking at Countries such as Thailand and Malaysia, both of which we have raced at in the past. The temperatures will still be as high as the hottest British summer’s day in the Philippines and Indonesia and a pleasant 15-20 degrees in Zhuhai. It’s great for the competitors and spectators alike.”
“If we go ahead we would start in November 2007 and run through to March 2008. That would be a whole year off for us so we are looking at holding at least two one off events in the meantime. There is a good possibility we can hold an event in January 2007, whatever the calendar turns out to be for next year, and we should be able to make an announcement very soon.”
“We have not ruled out remaining as a summer series, our decision will depend on the feedback we receive from the teams and drivers”.
