James Winslow qualified almost half a second quicker than the next man, Ali Jackson, really stamping his authority on the session. Dado Pena was third on the grid but he will be unable to start after a heavy accident on his third flying lap. Pena was taken to hospital for a precautionary check up and declared battered and bruised but otherwise ok. Team Mate, impressive newcomer Henri Karjalainen will now start third from Moreno Soeprapto and Tyson Sy.

Satrio Hermanto starts on pole for the Promotions Class from Michele Bumgarner and Gaby Dela Merced. Pena would undoubtedly have been close to Winslow if he had not crashed, Pena and the Englishman having dominated the times in practice. “I made a mistake, ran wide at turn one and the car spun back across the track and hit the wall backwards” said a crestfallen Pena. Team Goddard will have the car repaired but at the moment it looks like Pena will sit out tomorrow’s races.
