Ali Jackson injured in road car accident – Oct 05 06

Ali Jackson, who currently lies second in the driver’s championship, broke his right arm in a road car accident in his native Ireland. He has had the armed pinned and is hopeful he can take part in the final event of the year at the Batangas Race Circuit in the Philippines.

The injury is a big blow to his Championship aspirations and it now makes James Winslow an odds on favourite to win. Four drivers still have a mathematical chance of winning with 80 points still on the table for the final event. Winlsow leads Jackson by 26 points, Tyson Sy by 35 points whilst Dillon Battistini is 79 points behind the leader. The race for the championship is realistically between the top three drivers but Sy and Jackson will need to win in BRC with Winslow having a couple of bad races for them to have a chance.

Noel Thompson, Team Principle of Jackson’s team, Aran Racing, remarked “We were shocked to hear of Ali’s accident after Moreno’s crash on Saturday. To have two drivers in crash in one week is unheard of. We are glad both are fine, Moreno tested in the A1GP rookie session at Zanvoort last Friday and showed no effects from the crash. Ali is extremely fit which should help him heal quickly. We hope that both are in flying form for the last round in BRC.”
