Soeprapto took the lead from Battistini at the start and held the class lead until the third lap when Battistini found a way past into turn six. A fluffed gear change allowed Moreno past again but Battistini took the place again into the fast turn 12. The safety car was then called out on the fourth of the six lap race after Paul Ip spun into retirement at turn 14. The cars were released for one final lap and Battistini held off his Indonesian rival for a fine win. Philip Forsman finished third, just holding off a closing Henri Karjalainen who had started 28th on the grid after his retirement in race one. Dado Pena was next up in class, another back of the grid starter with Edwin Jowsey the final finisher.
The overall lead of the race had been taken by pole sitter, Charlie Hollings, but Tim Macrow bravely outbraked him into turn 15 and took a lead he was never to relinquish. Marco Mapelli was a close third from Karl Reindler and James Winslow, the latter starting mid–pack due to a 30 second penalty being added to his first race times for a jump start. Walter Grubmuller was next up with Battistini and Moreno in 7th and 8th places. Forsman was 11th with Karjalainen 12th.
The third race of the weekend will be tomorrow, Saturday, and Karjalainen is hoping to get amongst the front runners from his 12th place starting position.
