Battistini made another good start whilst Karjalainen was again slow off the grid allowing Soeprapto into second place. It took Karjalainen a couple of laps to find his way past his team mate by which time Battistini was several seconds down the road. Karjalainen however got his head down and reeled in his title protagonist, getting close enough to worry Battistini on the last lap. “If I lose the championship its because of my starts” rued Karjalainen. Battistini had once again driven a faultless race despite the pressure from behind.
Behind the leading duo a three way dice developed between Soeprapto, Tacos and Promotions Class leader, Paul Ip. The latter found a way past Tacos and then proceeded to push Soeprapto. It all ended in tears for Ip when he dove up the inside of Soeprapto into turn one and spun into retirement on the dirty side of the road. Moreno was then left to defend from Tacos, just taking the final podium pace by four tenths of second. Robin Tato and John O’Hara completed the top six.
