Karjalainen’s Turkish delight – Aug 21 07

Asian F3 driver, Henri Karjalainen, will race in this weekend’s Turkish GP2 event supporting the F1 Grand Prix. He replaces Markus Niemela, who dislocated his shoulder in the Hungarian GP race, at BCN competition. Niemela is expected to make a return in Monza. Karjalainen’s results in this years AF3 Pacific Series were instrumental in his been given this opportunity.

Karjalainen won five races on his way to second in the Asian F3 Pacific Series and this led to his name being at the top of the list to replace his injured Countryman, fellow Finn Markus Niemela. He will be jumping in at the deep end, having never sat in a GP2 car nor seen the Turkish track. Asian F3 has once again demonstrated it is one of the most cost effective steps on the way to the higher echelons of the sport.
