Peter Kalpakiotis suffered a crown wheel failure on the warm up lap and would take no part in the race whilst Valois stalled at the start of the warm up lap and would join one lap down. Howson of PTRS made a good start from pole whilst behind Team Goddard team mates, Vervisch and Suzuki, were wheel to wheel through turn one. Vervisch emerged in front and he immediately put pressure on the leader. Howson ran wide at turn four, Brians corner, and got on the marbles allowing Vervisch past to take the lead which he held to the finish, setting fastest race lap in the process.
Suzuki was really pressuring Howson, on a couple of occasions almost alongside at turn one. The pressure seemed to have paid off when Howson spun at turn three on the penultimate lap, allowing Suzuki and Ed Pead past. Howson’s spin was caused by driveshaft failure and he dropped to fourth place. Ed Pead was happy to be third with the race’s second fastest lap.
Round 16 will take place this afternoon.
