Dillon Battistini wins IPS race at Homestead Miami – Apr 7 08

2007 Asian F3 Pacific Champion, Dillon Battistini, won the first round of the Indy Pro Series at Homestead Miami last week. The IRL’s equivalent of GP2 is extremely competitive and Battistini once again demonstrated that Asian F3 is a credible career step for talented drivers.

Past AF3 champions include Ananda Mikola (2005) who resurrected his career through AF3 and went on to drive for Indonesia in A1GP. He is now one of the stars in Speedcar. 2004 Champion, Christian Jones, likewise used AF3 to put himself back on the motor sport map and he narrowly missed out on the 2007 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia title and is currently back in attempt to rest the title from Tim Sugden. 2006 Champion, James Winslow, also used AF3 to rekindle his career and went on to win the 2007 Asian Formula V6 Renault Title. He is currently racing in Australian F3.

2006 Promotions Class Champion, Satrio Hermanto, currently drives for the Indonesian A1 GP Team. Ali Jackson who finished third in the 2006 Championship is currently racing in British F3 along with Walter Grubmuller who drove in selected rounds of the 2007 Series. Other notables from recent years include 2007 second placer, Henri Karjalainen, who raced in the Turkish round of last years GP2 Series, Charlie Hollings who is currently in British GT, John O’Hara who drove as a Rookie for Team Ireland in A1GP and is now co-Proprietor of Aran Racing and Oliver Turvey who won the first round of this years British F3 Series who raced in the opening round of the 2007 Asian Pacific Series, taking two second places.

The list goes on….Asian F3 is a genuine career choice.
