Asian F3 Graduates shine – May 1 08

Graduates of the Asian F3 Series are currently competing around the World and doing extremely well. The last five AF3 champion drivers are all proving to be competitive in their chosen championships, ranging from Indy Lights to Porsche Carrera Cup.

2004 Champion, Christian Jones, finished a close second to Tim Sugden in the 2007 Porsche Carrera Cup Championship and he has come back in an attempt to go one better this year. After four rounds he currently lies fourth in the points. Ananda Mikola, the 2005 Champion, has just completed the first Speedcar Series, finishing 8th in the points beating ex grand-prix drivers such as Johansson, Katayama, Lehto, Villeneuve, Yoong, Lamy, Danner and Frentzen.

2006 AF3 Champion, James Winslow, went on to win the 2007 Formula V6 Asia Series and now currently leads the Australian F3 Points table whilst 2007 AF3 Pacific Champion, Dillon Battistini, lies third in the points after four rounds of the Indy Lights Series, winning the season opener on the Homestead Oval. Current champion, Frederic Vervisch, will compete in the German F3 Championship, taking third place in the first round at Hockenheim.

Notable graduates from AF3 include Henri Karjalainen who is racing in the Champ Car Atlantic Series, Rafael Suzuki who finished fourth in the season opener of the German F3 Championship and Ali Jackson and Walter Grubmuller both of whom are driving in this years British F3 Championship.
